COURSE DETAILS - HOME MANAGEMENT & COOKING students2.jpg

This is a 5 day course, with classes presented one day per week from 08h00 to 15h45. Only 10 students per class are admitted.

The course consists of two cooking/baking sessions and one home management session per day. A certificate is issued to each student during the general Wamakersvallei Certificate ceremony. Attendance of all classes is compulsory.

The cost is R1500, and includes a handbook and all requirements. Students must provide their own refreshments and meals.

Assessment is done continuously and after each cooking session.

Section 1: Home Management (2 hours per day)

 

  • Kitchen planning & organisation
  • Self-management and time planning
  • Meal planning
  • Financial planning and saving
  • Laying table according to menu
  • Flower arrangement and decoration
  • Wine etiquette & hospitality and entertainment
  • First aid
  • Home security
  • Hygiene & general cleaning of all rooms
  • Washing & ironing & stain removal

Section 2: Cooking (4 hours per day)

 

  • Cooking methods
  • Reading measures and recipes
  • Kitchen equipment
  • Processing vegetables and fruit (jam; canning)
  • Breakfast - methods of cooking eggs, garnishing
  • Lunch
  • Dinners - souffles, roulade
  • Small pastries - cookies, rusks
  • Big pastries - cakes, cake decoration
